BUT that didn't take away the story and I can't wait to hear the next book. Although 1 thing that I struggled with, Ben and J sounded very alike so at times I struggled to understand who was talking. I get it that it's a fantasy but as a gay man himself, it did make me tut a bit. Please don't get me wrong, I'm happy of the ending but, it just was too sugary happy and nice nice nice. The ending felt rushed and too Disney like ending. Nothing excited happened in a thrilling way BUT what i did like was them falling back in love again. The start was great and thrilling but once they were on the run, it felt like the same story of Ben mopping about and J asking for forgiveness all the time. But for me, this book was weak, dull and just went nowhere.
So I was excited when I saw that the story continued from a different view point and characters. all 3 of them gripped me from start to finish. I loved the first 3 books of the magpie world.
